*Cosmetic acupuncture can be done in combination with Botox or fillers. It is recommended to do a few facial acupuncture sessions in between injections. After the Botox wears off, acupuncture helps restore qi and blood to those areas that have been dormant and then when you do go back for more injections in the same area, you’ll be better off because that part of your face is being reinvigorated in between (some have been able to decrease the amount of injectables they use with this strategy!) Please wait 4-6 weeks after the injections before booking a facial acupuncture treatment.

Mei Zen Protocol for Facial Rejuevenation Lift

FACE or NECK: Cosmetic acupuncture is a holistic alternative to a facelift or other invasive treatments like botox or injections, or topical treatments like peels or laser. It is safer and delivers body-wide benefits during the treatment. Not only can you improve the texture of your skin, but you can also improve your digestion, sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, and other inbalances with each treatment. Mei zen is a particular facial/cosmetic acupuncture protocol that was developed by the acupuncturist Martha Lucas, which she created drawing on ancient, traditional acupuncture techniques.

FACE or NECK: The results can last for 3-5 years (the younger you are, the longer the rejuvenation will last), and the benefits accumulate through the treatments in terms of skin health and improving overall health (which also is reflected in your skin). To compare, plastic surgery facelifts are said to last 4-6 years, botox from 3-6 months, and laser skin resurfacing treatments can last from 3-5 years.

From the initial 5 week / 10 treatment protocol, depending on your age will want to come for facial acupuncture once every month or 2 or 3 for maintenance.

The face and neck are seperate protocols and are not done in the same appointments, we recommend you do one for 5 weeks, then move on to the other.

Facial Protocol

For the face protocol, ten treatments are scheduled twice a week for five weeks. Each session includes the acupuncture treatment in addition to a facial and scalp massage using nurturing essential oils to enhance skin condition and retain moisture (on face) and guasha. Some of the experienced outcomes can include: More radiant, youthful looking skin, reduction of fine lines, softening of deep wrinkles, increased collagen and elastin production, reduction of sagging facial muscles, and less discolouration of skin from age spots, acne, or rosacea.

Neck Protocol

For the neck protocol, ten treatments are scheduled twice a week for five weeks. If you are considering both the face and neck protocols, it is ideal to start with the face and then do the neck protocol second, for best results. Each session includes the acupuncture treatment in addition to a neck, lower jaw and scalp massage with guasha and to help tighten the underlying structure of the fascia. Some of the reported outcomes include: Firmer skin tone, reduction of fine lines, reduction in the appearance of jowls, and more defined jaw line.
